Blog Sound 2013
Something rather exciting has been happening in the last few weeks. 49 of the best UK music bloggers have got together to create a longlist of 15 artists who will be making a huge impact next year. The list detracts nothing away from the annual BBC sound of 2013 though what it does do is serve as an honest viewpoint from the writers who live their lives searching for new music. (Continue…)
Last year’s list pointed out this year’s Mercury Prize winning, Alt-J though interestingly enough the BBC had left them completely off their list. Just over 170 acts received at least one vote. The winning act received votes from around 25% of all bloggers. The list below is a representation from a wide spectrum including major label, independent label and even unsigned artists, giving recognition to some who do not major PR support.
Created by Robin Seamer (Breaking More Waves) & Andy Von Pip (The Von Pip Express).
“Each blog was allowed to vote for five acts and the diversity of the nominations was staggering. Based on the evidence of the spread of votes anyone that says that music bloggers are sheep and are all writing about the same artists has it wrong. However, the results of the poll show that certain artists do have a lot of support and love from a significant portion of UK bloggers and those artists make up the Blog Sound of 2013 list,” says Robin.
The short-list and official winner will be announced January 3rd 2013
